After trying to figure out whether to keep reviews on my Jennyonthespot blog or start a home specifically for my reviews, a decision has been made! In an effort to keep things technically simpler and support the needs of the brands I get to learn and share about, I decided a separate home would be the best choice. It is here I get to share with you my experiences with and opinions on different products.
The reviews here are compensated. With some reviews, I receive payment in “green”… with others just keeping the product is my “compensation”. I want to communicate this clearly. I also want to communicate that just because I am compensated to write about a product, it does not mean I will endorse it. I hope most of my reviews will be positive. I aim to seek-out things and agree to reviewing items I am excited about… items I think you might be excited about, and hopefully be able to pass deals and opportunities to you (be it giveaways or coupons or…).
I want you… readers, friends, fellow consumers to know I value having a reputation of honesty. I will be honest in my reviews – whether I am paid or compensated in another way. I will not recommend something just because I want to swoon a company or get “free stuff” (which is a whole other topic because writing is effort, but I digress)… My priorities are: you, our relationship, and the relationship I have with companies whose product I review.
In this review blog I will be sharing my opinion. I will make recommendations based on my opinion and experience. For example, if I HIGHLY recommend a spray glitter, but you HATE glitter… it’s not that I am lying or embellishing about the greatness of the spray glitter. I like spray glitter. You may not like spray glitter. It’s OK. I will do my best to describe the who, what, where, when and whys… of why I like or dislike the product I review. After that, the ball is in your court. Conversely, your heart may beat for chocolate covered orange candy. Me? I am not so much a fan of the marriage of the flavors of orange and chocolate. I would not recommend such a candy, based on the preferences of my taste buds. My commitment here is honesty based on what clicks or does not click with me, but to communicate the pros and cons in a helpful way … because as much as I want everything to be about me and what works for me, it saddens me to know it is usually almost always and forever not all about me
