Congratulations to Shelly for her comment — #21! And thank so much to all who participated in this contest!
Our weekend mornings are a bit slower-paced than our weekday mornings… this year. It really depends on what activities the kids are signed up for. This Fall and Winter we are not committed to early morning activities (YAY!!!). We usually take advantage of the extra time by either making a “fancy” breakfast or going out as a family.
When we cook together, it is often pancakes or waffles with bacon or sausage. Everyone has their preference, so we change it up to keep things “fair”. Lately, the kids have been hooked on adding chocolate chips to their waffles and pancakes. Since we don’t do it everyday, we count it as a special treat and fun family activity.
Our entire family enjoys far fewer breakfasts together than dinner times. As Mom, I feel breakfast on weekends is a special time. This doesn’t mean preparations have to be full of effort, or even chocolate chips… Anywhere from pouring a bowl of cereal to toasting a bagel, having breakfast together as an entire family is definitely a special time for us. We definitely need that time to reconnect, while the sun is rising…
How about you? How do your weekend mornings differ from the weekdays? What fun breakfast foods does your family make together? Please share your story in the comments! If you do, you will be entered for a chance to win a $100 Visa giftcard! This contest runs 9/21- 9/28/2010. There are 24 other chances to win! Weekends are usually pancakes or waffles because that’s the only time everybody has enough time to make, as well as eat, them. I have dinosaur things that make pancakes in the shape of dinosaurs – the kids love them!

Oh they are very different. My son is gone most weekends and I am working. I’m an anomaly in that I like the weekday mornings better!
My daughter usually tries to talk my husband into making breakfast on the weekends which is just fine with me. He does the pancakes with eggs, potatoes, and bacon.

On the weekends my husband is home so it is usually the three of us and all is perfect in the world. He is a chef and we usually are treated to a great breakfast!
Thanks!
On the weekends, we cook hashbrowns. uheeter at comcast.net
I love the peacefulness of early morning when the family is still sleeping. The coffee tastes wonderful, I check the email and ready to get everyone fed breakfast. We keep it easy during the week as everyone is on a slightly different time schedule. Cereal, bagels and juice are the usual.

On the weekends we make omelettes or waffles – yummy!
Our weekend mornings vary from the weekdays in that we are more likely to eat a breakfast out. Real full breakfast at the local coffee shop complete with the kids getting hot chocolate with whipped cream.
If we have time on the weekends we might do something fancy like make pancakes or waffles or french toast or more time and labor intensive breakfasts, but only if we are in the mood (including in the mood for the cleanup involved). If we aren’t in the mood they get toast and cereal and easy food.

Weekends, the kids get to sleep in and usually it is just a cereal morning. Weekdays, I feel they need a warm breakfast start for the day ahead!

Our weekday mornings are much more rushed than our weekends. No sleeping in because there is work for me and school for my son. I think one of the breakfast foods that my son and I enjoy making is butter toast with cinnamon sugar. Yum! We also love our Cinnamon French Toast.

I’m retired now, so I eat pretty much the same all week. Every now and then my daughter and I make “brunch” with french toast, bacon, eggs, and fresh fruit!

Workdays it’s either cold cereal or a piece of fruit I can eat in the car. Days off it’s bacon and eggs or waffles!

On the weekends hubs and I tend to eat a big breakfast with eggs, sausage, and toast. During the week I grab some oatmeal and coffee for myself and fix up a scrambled egg for Little Bit.

weekend breakfasts aren’t much different than weekday ones, though we may splurge with a trip to mcdonald’s or starbucks
Weekdays are crazy, weekends are much more relaxed. We make funny looking pancakes together on weekends. Sometimes I even freeze them for weekday mornings.
