Pop-Tarts, Sprinkly Ice Cream Bites and a $100 Visa Gift Card

This is a compensated review by BlogHer and Kellogg’s® Pop-Tarts® Toaster Pastries.

*Update… we have a winner! Amy was commenter #41. I combined the comments from 2 posts this one and this post.*

WeScreen shot 2010-04-22 at 10.15.51 AM love Pop-Tarts over here in the Ingram household. Pockets of YUM. Each of us has our own favorite, and each of us have our favorite ways we like them. I prefer the Pop-Tarts without icing, my son and I both prefer them toasted. My girls don’t like them toasted, and my youngest removes the “crusts”. My hubs? He’ll eat them toasted or not. He’s a man, he just wants his food.

I like them for their ease. The kids like them for their yum. And now… we like them for their fun!

For this review I was handed down a challenge… to make a specific treat with the beloved Pop-Tarts… with the feature flavor — Strawberry Milkshake. The charge was to make Sprinkly Ice Cream Bites!

I gathered sprinkles:

I pulled out the ice cream:

I unwrapped and cut our Strawberry Milkshake Pop-Tarts into quarters:

pops

And away we went! I scooped a generous tablespoon of vanilla ice cream to the unfrosted side of one quarter… then topped it with another Pop-Tarts quarter!

I handed the ice cream bites to my 7 year and 5 year old girls for help. THEY got to add the sprinkles – and they LOVED that job. I’d like to thank my son for vacuuming up the sprinkles that did not make it onto the treats!

Look! Sprinklefied!!!

My son couldn’t wait to dive in, but one step remained…

wow

We needed to wrap the treats in plastic wrap and freeze for 2 hours so they could get their chill on!

After a hearty spaghetti dinner, the kids were ready to try what will probably be our newest summer treat… the dessert we will take to summer BBQs and will make us the most popular family EVER!

I like to serve cereal, oatmeal, eggs, toast, fruit salad, pretty much whatever I have planned. I do admit I reach for the Pop Tarts on those mornings where I just can’t seem to get it together, though. They’re the perfect grab and go breakfast.

Thanks for the awesome giveaway!!! :)

Weekday breakfasts tend to be more cereals and granola bars, with the occasional poptart thrown in. Strangely enough my SO eats poptarts as a snack or with his lunch at work all the time, but not for breakfast.

I am so hiding this post from my kids, lest they get expectations.

We’re boring here, cereal or oatmeal. None of my children like milk on their cereal, they drink it separately, so although oatmeal is more nutritious, sometimes I push the cereal because it’s easier to clean.

  44. 7
    Stacey says:

I am a cold cereal girl. And believe it or not, I don’t think the girls have ever eaten a pop tart…and I can’t recall the last time I ate a pop tart…maybe it was in the 90′s? Not because we are all healthy like that…just never had, but maybe I am missing out on the awesome. Perhaps when I win my Visa gift card, I will buy $100 worth of Pop Tarts!

My 5yr old eats Strawberry Pop-tarts for breakfast. That’s pretty much it. Hubby eats Blueberry Pop-tarts. I eat cereal, pop-tarts, fried eggs, bacon, etc. Whatever I’m in the mood for at 3am.
